Christmas Ornament

Here is a wonderfully fun and easy project you can make in no time!

Supplies:

  • Stampin' UP! Dashing DSP
  • Real Red Classic Ink
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock
  • Pretties (1 hat pin, 6 round crystal beads and 2 teardrop crystal beads)
  • 1/4" Artichoke Grosgrain ribbon
  • Crop-a-Dile

Instructions:

  1. Select two patterns of the DSP that you want to use. Cut 10 strips of one pattern 1" x 5". Cut 6 strips of the other pattern 1" x 3". Cut a 4" x 8" piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock. Stamp with swirl stamp from the Season of Joy set using Real Red ink. Now cut this cardstock into 8 strips 1" x 4" each.
  2. Stack each size of strip together and punch a hole in the center of each end with the Crop-a-Dile using the 1/8 hole punch.
  3. Start with the longest strips. Stack neatly so holes on one end are lined up.
  4. Thread ribbon down through one end. You can either trim the end of the ribbon at an angle and thread through or use a tapestry needle. Pull ribbon about 3/4 of the ribbon through.
  5. Thread the ribbon through the holes at the other end of the strip. You will go in through the back side of the paper and end up on the “good” side.
  6. Create a loop in the short end of the ribbon about 3 inches long tie a knot at top of the ball to make the loop for hanging the ornament.
  7. Fan out the paper strips to make your ball shape.
  8. On the other end of the ribbon slide on one round "crystal" bead from the pretties kit. Push the bead up until the ball is the shape you want it.
  9. Repeat steps 4 through 8 for each the medium and small balls.
  10. After the smallest ball is on I put two round and then one teardrop shaped beads. The beads are tight enough on the ribbon that no adhesive is needed.
  11. Put the remaining beads on the hat pin, put the hatpin through the knot at the top of the ornament. You are done!

You have now created a super easy, beautiful and inexpensive project! This makes a great decoration, gift or gift topper! Make a whole bunch and string together for a beautiful garland. Please contact me with any questions.
